Town plan changes proposed to adapt to Yandina growth

Council is proposing an amendment to its planning scheme to allow for population growth in the hinterland.

Division 10 Cr David Law attended meetings with the Yandina Chamber of Commerce and YADCA on Monday and Tuesday last week and is urging all residents to provide feedback on the proposed amendment to the Planning Scheme.

“I have provided information about the amendment and on Monday was able to have Jason from the Strategic Planning Team explain the amendment for everyone.

“I have listened very carefully to everyone’s point of view and answered questions.

“I encourage everyone to have their say about this planning scheme amendment. Whether someone has objections to the amendment or is in favour please give your feedback stating the reasons for your point of view.”

The proposed amendment is primarily in response to additional land being included in the Urban Footprint of the South East Queensland Regional Plan in 2017.

The amendment proposes to change the zoning and local plan area boundaries for specific sites located at Yandina as well as Bli Bli, Chevallum, Forest Glen and Landsborough.

The amendment relates to land located on the northern edge of Yandina’s existing urban area, generally bound by Brandons Road, Steggalls Road and Browns Creek Road.

The subject land comprises nine lots with a total area of 36 hectares and the proposed amendment also relates to land located along Ninderry Road, north of Yandina Primary School.

People can make a submission online by visiting council’s Have your Say website until 4 December.

Feedback received during the community consultation period will inform the proposed amendment, which will then be presented to council for consideration.
